A diode laser with built-in cooling targets the hair follicle to reduce regrowth over a series of quick sessions. Treatments are customized to your skin, your hair and the area treated.
Light that targets the follicle
DiolazeXL by InMode is an 810 nm diode laser. Its light is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair and travels down to the follicle, where it turns into heat. Over a series of sessions, this weakens the follicle so it produces less hair.
The sapphire tip is cooled before, during and after every pulse to protect the skin and keep you comfortable. Its large treatment window covers bigger areas like the legs and back quickly.

Hair grows in cycles
Each hair follicle moves through three phases. The laser works on hairs in the active growth phase, and only part of your hair is in that phase at each visit. Spacing your sessions 4 to 8 weeks apart lets us treat each hair as it moves into its growth phase.
Anagen
The active growth phase. The hair is still attached to the follicle, so this is when the laser works best.
Catagen
A short transition phase. The hair begins to detach from its blood supply and stops growing.
Telogen
The resting phase. The old hair sheds and the follicle gets ready to grow a new one.

What to expect
Consultation
We review your health history and medications and assess your skin, hair colour and hair thickness, then plan your sessions. All treatments are performed by licensed nurses under medical directive.
Preparation
You shave the area before your visit. The skin is cleansed, a cool gel is applied and you wear protective eyewear for the whole treatment.
Treatment
The cooled handpiece glides over the skin and delivers pulses of light. Most clients feel a quick, warm snap. Small areas take minutes and full legs about an hour.
Results
Treated hairs shed over 1 to 3 weeks. Regrowth becomes finer, lighter and slower with each session, with a touch-up once a year if needed after your series.
A good fit if you
- Are 19 or older and in good general health
- Are tired of shaving, waxing or threading
- Get ingrown hairs or razor bumps
- Have dark hair, on any skin type
- Can commit to a series of sessions
When it may not be suitable
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Blonde, grey, white or red hair, which has too little pigment for the laser to target
- A fresh or recent tan, sunburn or self tanner
- Recent isotretinoin (Accutane) use
- Medications or conditions that make the skin sensitive to light
- An active infection, cold sore or open wound in the area
Possible side effects
- Redness and small bumps around the follicles, usually gone within hours
- Mild warmth or sensitivity
- Rare: blistering or lighter or darker patches of skin
Before & after care
Before
- Shave the area before your appointment
- No waxing, plucking or threading before or between sessions
- Avoid sun and tanning for 2 weeks and self tanner for 1 week
- Arrive with clean skin, no lotion, deodorant or makeup
After
- Apply aloe or a gentle moisturizer if the skin feels warm
- Skip hot showers, saunas and intense workouts for 24 hours
- Avoid sun and tanning for 2 weeks and use SPF 30 or higher
- Shave only between sessions, no waxing or plucking
- Let treated hairs shed on their own over 1 to 3 weeks
