Hyperhidrosis

Botox for sweaty underarms, hands and feet

Hyperhidrosis is sweating that goes beyond what your body needs to stay cool. Small Botox injections calm the sweat glands in the treated area, so you can feel fresh and confident again.

The Treatment

Fresh, dry and confident.

Sweat glands are switched on by nerve signals. In hyperhidrosis these signals are overactive, so you sweat through clothing, drip from your palms or have damp feet even when you are calm and cool.

Botox blocks the signal that tells the sweat glands in the treated area to work. Sweating there is greatly reduced, while the rest of your body still sweats normally to keep you cool. Learn more about our Botox treatments.

Your Appointment

What to expect

Consultation

We review your sweating, the areas that bother you most and your health history. Consent is reviewed before treatment, and all treatments are performed by licensed nurses under medical directive.

Preparation

The area is cleansed and the treatment zone is marked. For the hands and feet, numbing cream or ice may be used for comfort.

Treatment

Tiny amounts of Botox are placed just under the skin in a grid pattern across the area. Most appointments are quick.

Results

Sweating starts to decrease within a few days, with the full effect in about 1 to 2 weeks. Underarm results often last 6 to 9 months, and treatment can be repeated when sweating returns. Individual results vary.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to stop sweating in one area?
It is considered well tolerated. Only the treated area sweats less. The rest of your body keeps sweating normally to control your temperature.
How long do results last?
Underarm results often last 6 to 9 months. Results for the hands and feet vary from person to person. Treatment is repeated when sweating starts to return.
Does it hurt?
Underarm injections feel like quick pinches. The hands and feet are more sensitive, so numbing cream or ice may be used for comfort.
Is there downtime?
Very little. Most clients return to normal activities right away. Avoid exercise and heat for the first 24 hours.
Is it covered by insurance?
Some private insurance plans cover treatment for hyperhidrosis. Check with your provider before your appointment.
Is this the same Botox used for wrinkles?
It is the same medication, used in a different area. See our Botox page for wrinkle and therapeutic treatments.
